Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ’s)
- Does LifePath Systems have qualified professionals?
Yes, all professionals must meet rigorous credentialing requirements.
Our staff includes psychiatrists and registered nurses, as well as many licensed counselors. All staff receive extensive pre-service and on-going training.
- How big is LifePath and how long has it been in operation?
LifePath opened its doors in 1986 as Collin County Mental Health Mental Retardation Center.
Behavioral Health is one of three divisions. The other two are IDD and Early Childhood Intervention. Currently LifePath has nine facilities in operation, employs over 250 staff and contracts with 80-90 professionals each year for services.
- Does LifePath Systems provide any psychological testing?
No, unfortunately, we do not have the resources to provide psychological testing. All diagnostic assessments are based on a face-to-face interview and questions about current symptoms and history.
- Does LifePath Systems provide stand-alone psychiatric evaluations?
LifePath Systems provides only those services to diagnose and treat symptoms of mental illness. Clients must be eligible for and willing to seek continued treatment at LifePath Systems in order to be scheduled to see a psychiatrist. While the evaluation is conducted on-site by a licensed psychiatrist, it is not tailored to provide court documentation or disability paperwork. The evaluation is designed for treatment purposes.

- What are the advantages of choosing a not-for-profit provider like LifePath?
Mental healthcare is one area where you want to be assured that you are going to get quality care, and only getting the treatment that you need and want. LifePath’s volunteer (but highly responsible) Board of Trustees oversees the operations and closely monitors financial arrangements to ensure that clients are getting the best services possible. The Board hires an external CPA firm each year to conduct an independent financial audit that allows them to know that all public monies are spent in an accountable, effective and efficient manner.
