The Assistant Supervisor position is under direct supervision of the Program Supervisor and Program Administrator with broad latitude for initiative and independent judgment.   The position will assists with management of consumer care activities and assigned staff.  The position also serves as contact person in the absence of the Program Supervisor for group home supervision.  Flexible work hours are required.  May work rotating, fixed or split shifts, work weekends, holidays & are expected to work during inclement weather.  Performs some housekeeping duties & maintains safe clean environment.   It is preferred that the candidate have experience with HCS, ICF-IID, or Nursing Home experience.

KNOWLEDGE / ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include the following but not limited to:

  • Leading and supervising staff interaction with individuals.
  • Assist in assessments & medical appointments.
  • Provides direction and support to staff.
  • Monitoring and insuring proper communication and written reports pertaining to individuals. Ensure that documentation is completed as required.
  • Performing supervisory duties as required by program management
  • Adhering to agency policies and procedures.
  • Ensures that individual training and activity schedules are followed. (Modifying those schedules in response to unexpected circumstances.)
  • Ability to follow written & verbal directions. Ability to record pertinent information.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs, frequent lifting and bending of non ambulatory individuals.
  • Ability to work and communicate with a variety of professionals and family member.
  • Facilitates planning, implementation, evaluation of programs, initiatives and objectives for the unit.
  • Serves as a liaison between the administrator, staff and other areas within the organization. Identifies and resolves issues affecting delivery of consumer care services in a unit.
  • Assists in evaluating services provided and makes recommendations for improvements as appropriate.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • Current Texas drivers license, dependable transportation.
  • Applicant must not possess a criminal record.
  • Strong organizational & communication skills, the ability to assist with client care & transportation are required
  • One year of supervisory experience health care agency
  • Knowledge and two years experience working with individuals with disabilities in a community setting.
  • Previous experience & knowledge of monitoring and managing fiscal responsibilities of a group home or residential setting.
  • Willingness to be on-call.
  • Consistently meets deadlines, ability to prioritize, multi-task and flexibility.
  • Excellent organizational, oral and written communication skills.
