Seeking a full time Bachelor degree in Social Work or Psychology with at least 1 year of case management work in a community mental health center.  This position will be working with the Collin County Court System.  

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

Performs routine social services work.  Position will work closely with Collin County MHMC Program (Indigent MH Defense Grant).  Position will work from the Collin County Courthouse located in McKinney, Texas. Responsibilities include providing routine service coordination and other services as required.  Goal is to link individuals exiting the Collin County Detention Facility with appropriate Mental Health and Substance Abuse services.  Will work closely with defense attorneys in an effort to ensure individuals with mental illnesses receive the services they need to remain stable and functioning in the community.  Works under moderate supervision with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES include the following.

Knowledge and/or experience in providing rehabilitation or counseling services to individuals with mental illness; knowledge of the social services system and the ability to connect clients with appropriate services.  Ability to write clearly and professionally.  Ability to think clearly and logically in order to deal with potentially dangerous and/or emotional situations.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree in counseling or related field from a four-year college or university.  Must have at least 3 professional or education references.  Must have a valid Texas Drivers License and be insurable under LifePath Systems automobile insurance plan.  Must pass criminal history and driving records checks.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Must have a valid Texas Driver’s license.
