Summary – Perform routine, direct care services to people with intellectual disabilities. Work involves providing direct consumer care and training, developing progress reports, and communicating with the team regarding consumers.  Work under modest supervision with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.  ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Bathes, feeds, and assists clients in dressing, maintaining personal hygiene, and learning self-help skills.
  • Consult & report significant changes in consumer’s physical or behavior conditions to supervisor.
  • Records information accurately and legibly on proper forms & assist with logging and filing on required forms.
  • Assure a clean household including bed linens, laundry, dishes, etc.
  • Assist preparing and serving food to consumers, following special prescribed diets.
  • Supervise consumer self-medication with written direction of Physician or as directed by Registered Nurse.
  • Assist consumers with following their personal schedules.  Assist consumers in attending socialization, exercise, and recreation activities.
  • Establish and maintain appropriate relationships with residents and their families.
  • Provide transportation for consumers as needed.
  • Ensure proper emergency procedures are implemented for the safety and well-being of the consumers.
  • Implement training programs, treatment, therapy, or developmental programs for consumers.
  • An understanding of the intellectual development process and caring for IDD consumers.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with consumer, family, staff and other health professionals.
  • Demonstrated use of initiative and commitment to ongoing professional development
  • Ability to cope with change, work demands, to prioritize work and display time management skills.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) and 3-6 months related experience in personal care preferred.  CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Must have a valid Texas Driver’s License and a good driving record  BENEFITS We offer a competitive salary.
